GUYANA has launched the Guyana Mining and Exploration Conference and Exhibition (G-MEX), a new annual international platform aimed at attracting investment, technology, and expertise to the country’s mining sector.
Launched on Wednesday, G-MEX is designed to connect Guyana’s mineral potential with investors, industry players, communities and international partners, while promoting responsible resource development.
The initiative, according to a press release issued by the Natural Resources Ministry on Thursday, will feature five components: A mining conference, exhibition, investor forum, geological showcase and awards.
“The true importance of G-MEX will ultimately be measured by what it creates for Guyana,” the release said, adding:
“It means greater international visibility for our mineral sector; attracting responsible investment and new exploration; creating opportunities for local miners, suppliers, contractors and entrepreneurs; introducing Guyana to new technologies, expertise and international best practices; strengthening relationships between government, industry, communities and investors; creating opportunities for employment, knowledge transfer and skills development for Guyanese.”
Organisers said G-MEX is expected to raise the international profile of Guyana’s mineral sector, encourage responsible investment and exploration, and create opportunities for local miners, suppliers, contractors and entrepreneurs.
The platform is also intended to support technology and knowledge transfer, skills development and employment opportunities for Guyanese, while strengthening collaboration among government, industry and communities.
Organisers described G-MEX as more than an annual event, positioning it as a platform to connect global opportunities with Guyanese potential and showcase the country’s mineral resources on the international stage.
