PATANJILEE Persaud produced an outstanding performance to win Round Seven of the Promotech and Danny’s Auto Sales NTFGL (National Top Flight Golf League) Tour #2 at the Lusignan Golf Club.
By producing that performance, he surged to the top of the overall standings ahead of the final round.
Persaud returned an impressive net 65 to secure the overall victory and eight points, while also claiming back-nine honours with a net 31 for an additional two points. His 10-point haul moved him to 19 points overall, giving him a narrow lead in what has developed into a fiercely contested championship race.
The penultimate round, played under excellent golfing conditions on the lush fairways of the Lusignan Golf Club, produced some of the best scores of Tour #2 as players battled for valuable points with just one round remaining.
Rohan Albert delivered one of the day’s standout performances, posting a blistering net 31 on the front nine to claim front-nine honours and two points. He followed that with a net 34 on the back nine to finish with an impressive net 66 overall. His performance earned him second place and five additional points, giving him a total of seven points for the day.
Joseph Szeplaki continued to keep himself firmly in championship contention with a strong net 69, finishing third and collecting three points. Brian Hackett secured fourth place and two points, while Maxim Mangra, who had previously posted a net 71 in a make-up round, claimed fifth place and the final point available.
The high standard of play was evident throughout the field, with several players recording respectable scores between net 72 and 75 but narrowly missing out on championship points.
With one round remaining, the battle for the Tour #2 title is set for a dramatic conclusion. Persaud leads the standings with 19 points, followed closely by Mangra and Anand Persaud on 18 points each, while Szeplaki remains within striking distance on 17 points.
Just two points separate the top four players, setting the stage for an exciting final round on Sunday, September 13. All four leading contenders are expected to compete together in the Marquee Group, ensuring that every shot and every putt will carry added significance as they battle for the championship.

There was also a club tournament that was played alongside the League tournament. Hardeo Ghanpat emerged victorious with a Gross 89, HC 28 and Net 61. Avinash Persaud earned a Best Gross of 76, Mohanlall Dinanauth earned the title of Longest Drive and Bridgelall Harry copped Nearest to Pin.
