PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, (CMC) – Defending champions Jamaica, Bermuda, Haiti and the home side Dominican Republic have booked their spots in the semifinal of the Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) Under-14 Boys’ Tier 1 Challenge Series.
Jamaica ended the preliminary round with a 2-0 victory over Curacao on Wednesday, their third straight victory in as many games, to top Group C on nine points.
They will face Bermuda in the semifinals, after they finished as runner-up in Group A with five points, winning one game and drawing the other two.
Jamaica’s head coach, Vassell Reynolds, said he was satisfied with his team’s performance thus far in the tournament.
“Clearly we have made progress. I have seen where the young lads are improving individually and collectively and that’s pleasing to see.
“Overall, we are pleased with the effort of the entire team so far and we anticipate even more improvement going forward,” Reynolds told the Jamaica Observer after Wednesday’s win.
Meanwhile, Haiti, who won Group B, and the Dominican Republic, winners of Group A, were to meet in the other semi-final game for a place in today’s final.
