GUYANA Rotorcraft Services Inc. has been granted an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) by the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), marking a significant step for the local aviation sector, and enabling the company to conduct certified rotorcraft operations.
The certificate was presented during a simple ceremony at the GCAA’s Head Office in Campbellville, where Director-General Lt. Col. (Ret’d) Egbert Field, A.A., handed the AOC to Chief Executive Officer of Guyana Rotorcraft Services Inc., Tarick Ramnarace.
The company is among the first local entities to secure an AOC exclusively for rotorcraft operations, having met the safety, regulatory and operational requirements established under Guyana’s civil aviation framework.
Speaking at the ceremony, Col. Field commended the company for the work and determination demonstrated in satisfying the rigorous standards required for certification.
He said the achievement represented more than regulatory compliance, describing it as a step forward for the local aviation community. The Director-General also thanked the Government of Guyana for creating an enabling environment for the development of the sector, and encouraged Guyana Rotorcraft Services Inc. to continue upholding high standards at both the local and international levels.
Ramnarace described the certification as an important milestone for the company and the wider aviation sector.
He expressed gratitude for the recognition, and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to safety, reliability and serving the needs of its clients and the wider community with integrity.
The Air Operator Certificate is issued to operators that satisfy prescribed requirements relating to safety, regulatory compliance and operational standards.
The presentation ceremony was attended by senior GCAA officials, including Director of Aviation Safety and Security Abraham Dorris, Chief Airworthiness Inspector Shiva Santee, and Flight Operations Inspector Edgar Heligar.
Representatives of Guyana Rotorcraft Services Inc. also in attendance included Captain Zahir Yusuf, Accountable Manager, and Captain Christopher Douglas, Operations Manager and Chief Pilot, along with other company representatives.
