ROSEAU, Dominica, (CMC) –The Dominican Football Association (DFA) has ended its search for a new leader of the men’s national football program, appointing Kurt Hurd as head coach on a two-year contract.
Hurd, who previously served as a FIFA talent scout, takes over the role he briefly held in March during the CONCACAF series.
His familiarity with the squad from that interim stint proved pivotal in his decision to pursue the position permanently.
“After working with the Senior Men’s National team in March, I was impressed with the talent and work ethic I saw,” Hurd stated. “I am excited to work with the boys. I believe in them, and they believe in me.”
The appointment comes following the departure of Ellington Sabin, who helmed the team for several years.
Hurd’s first competitive test will arrive in September, when Dominica kicks off its campaign in the CONCACAF Nations Cup.
The two-year deal signals the federation’s commitment to stability as the team looks to build on recent performances and advance in regional competition.
