GUYANA Police Force (GPF) ranks who completed six-week Junior Leaders Courses 1 and 2 and Final Training 2/2026 were urged on Friday to apply their training with professionalism, integrity and accountability as they take on greater responsibilities within the Force.
The ranks graduated during a ceremony held at the Officers’ Training Centre, Eve Leary, Georgetown on Friday following successful completion of the courses conducted by the GPF Academy, Georgetown Campus.
Delivering the feature address, Deputy Commissioner (Operations), Errol Watts, congratulated the graduates on their achievement and challenged them to translate the knowledge and skills acquired during training into effective performance in their daily duties.
Watts urged the newly trained junior leaders to lead by example, emphasising the importance of honesty and integrity in policing.
He also encouraged the ranks to pursue continuous learning, share their knowledge and experience with colleagues, and maintain high standards of professionalism and accountability.
The Deputy Commissioner further stressed the importance of maintaining good health and fostering strong relationships with the communities they serve, noting that effective policing requires collaboration and public engagement.
Outstanding performers were recognised during the graduation ceremony.
In Junior Leadership Course 1, Lance Corporal 25327 Partab was adjudged the best student. Lance Corporal 26597 Major placed first runner-up, while Lance Corporal 26453 Sookram was second runner-up.
For Junior Leadership Course 2, Corporal 26959 Watts emerged as the best student, followed by Corporal 23185 Paul in second place and Corporal 24831 Da Silva in third.
Corporal 26959 Watts was also named Valedictorian after being adjudged the best overall student among the two junior leadership courses.
The ceremony was attended by Director of the GPF Academy, Senior Superintendent Sonia Herbert, while Inspector Bobb served as chairperson.
The completion of the junior leadership courses marks another stage in the professional development of the participating ranks, equipping them with leadership skills intended to strengthen supervision, decision-making and service within the Force.
