-residents express satisfaction with President Ali’s intervention
RESIDENTS of Nabaclis have described their engagement with President, Dr Irfaan Ali on Wednesday as “very productive,” after securing commitments for critical community infrastructural works, support for farmers and improved facilities for vendors and children.
During the meeting held at State House, the group of residents praised the government’s accessibility and responsiveness to concerns raised over time.
One resident noted that residents have always highlighted community issues in a timely manner with the aim of quick interventions.
“Nabaclis has always kept in touch…make sure that everything is going good in the community. Any issues we have, we always come and make it known and get the issues resolved quickly,” she said in a short video clip posted on the President’s official Facebook page.
President Ali directed that a key bridge in the community be repaired without delay, so that residents can use it safely.
He also ordered follow-up action on flooding in the backlands and along a one-mile stretch of road, including an immediate engagement with farmers.
Residents reported that representatives from each farmers’ group in the backlands were present and that their requests were met promptly.
“The farmers came, we had a representative for each group in the backlands and what we asked for, the president did right away,” one farmer stated.
They also highlighted ongoing efforts to support farmers and local vendors, including plans to provide dedicated vending spaces in the community.
“We had solutions for everything in terms of the backlands, supporting farmers, coming into the community …to see a space for the vendors. That is something will be ongoing, and you know we had a great chat with the president,” another resident shared.
The president outlined follow-up sessions by relevant ministers on several other issues affecting Nabaclis residents, including a new development scheme in the area, improvements to a bridge approach, and the establishment of a functional library to serve children and families.
President Ali indicated that a minister would return to address matters related to the new scheme and that the responsible ministries had been contacted regarding the rehabilitation of bridge and library within the community.
Residents said the engagement left them satisfied with both the tone of the discussion and the concrete outcomes agreed.
“It was very good, very productive,” one resident said.
Another added that they were “happy with the outcome and the result” of the meeting.
