POLICE have launched an investigation into the death of a 33-year-old businessman whose body was discovered in his motor car along the Ogle public road, East Coast Demerara, on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Satayan Persaud of Industry, East Coast Demerara, was found motionless in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, which was parked along the roadway with its engine running.
According to preliminary information, Persaud had been ‘uncontactable’ by relatives from about 13:00h on Tuesday, prompting checks to be made for his whereabouts.
During those checks, his vehicle was located along the Ogle road. Police said an apparent gunshot wound was observed to Persaud’s chest, while a firearm was also seen inside the vehicle.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation, and police have not disclosed whether the incident is being treated as a suspected homicide or otherwise.
Investigations are continuing, with further details expected to be released as they become available.
