POLICE are investigating the alleged murder of 45-year-old cook Sonia Wilson, whose body was discovered on the verandah of her residence at Block 8, Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, on Monday.
Wilson was found lying motionless in a pool of blood at about 11:30 a.m. on August 10, 2026, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to preliminary investigations, police ranks who visited the scene observed several wounds on Wilson’s body. A knife was also found at the location and taken into police custody as investigators work to determine its relevance to the incident.
Wilson’s body was removed from the scene and escorted to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
The body was subsequently taken to Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Police said closed-circuit television cameras were observed in the area and the footage will be reviewed as part of the investigation.
No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
