THE Georgetown Football Association (GFA) successfully concluded its 2026 Youth Ensemble Programme competitions, with Vurlon Mills Football Academy (VMFA) emerging champions in both the Under-13 and Under-15 divisions to cap off an impressive campaign.
In the Under-13 competition, VMFA secured the championship with 25 points, finishing
ahead of Beacon Football Club (20 points) and Fruta Conquerors Football Club (19 points).
VMFA’s Adiel Hamilton was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), while
Isco Grumble of Beacon Football Club claimed both the Most Outstanding Player (MOP)
award and the Top Goal Scorer title after netting 10 goals.
VMFA goalkeeper Johnny Carprio earned the Best Goalkeeper award, conceding just one
goal throughout the competition, while Thyatira King of Western Tigers Football Club was
recognised as the tournament’s Best Female Player.
The academy continued its dominance in the Under-15 division, finishing atop the standings
with 27 points. Fruta Conquerors Football Club placed second with 24 points, while Beacon
Football Club finished third on 21 points.
VMFA midfielder Aron Vasconcellos was named the Most Valuable Player with 15 goals
scored, while teammate Joshawn Haynes captured the Top Goal Scorer award with an
outstanding 16 goals.
VMFA goalkeeper Shaden Cornelius, who conceded only two goals, received the Best Goalkeeper award. Jaden Christian of Fruta Conquerors Football Club was
recognised as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after scoring 15 goals.
Beacon FC and Fruta Conquerors FC who secured the runner up position in their respective
categories, will advance to the National leg of the competition.
The Georgetown Football Association’s Youth Ensemble Programme, an initiative of the
Guyana Football Federation supported by FIFA, is designed to expand competitive
opportunities and strengthen player development across the country’s Regional Member
Associations. The programme is a key component of the GFF’s long term plan to create
