The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) is experiencing technical difficulties with its emergency telephone system and has advised members of the public to use an alternative number if they are unable to reach the service by dialling 912.
Persons requiring emergency assistance are asked to contact the Fire Service on 623-7945 while efforts are being made to resolve the issue.
The GFS stressed that the alternative number is to be used for emergency calls only.
The Service apologised for any inconvenience caused by the disruption and said it appreciated the public’s patience and understanding as technical work continues to restore normal service.
Members of the public are also being encouraged to share the notice to help ensure that the alternative emergency contact information reaches as many people as possible.
