RESIDENTS and commuters in Region Eight are set to benefit from major improvements to the Mahdia-Campbelltown access road, with the region’s newly acquired motor grader being used for rehabilitation works.
Regional Executive Officer, (REO) Marti DeSouza, said the project fulfils a commitment made to residents after concerns were raised about the road’s condition, particularly during the rainy season.
The works include grading and reshaping the roadway to eliminate potholes, improve accessibility and make travel safer and more reliable.
DeSouza said the project marks the start of a wider programme to upgrade community roads and bridges across Region Eight with support from the Central Government.
He also urged motorists to drive with caution, reduce their speed and be mindful of residents and businesses along the route as the improved roadway may generate dust during the dry season. (Modified from NCN)
