A 44-year-old Bartica resident has been fined $210,000 after pleading guilty to drink driving and breaching a condition of prescribed fitness.
Clifford Speede of Five Miles Housing Scheme, Bartica, appeared before Magistrate Caressa Henry at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Speede pleaded guilty to Driving a Motor Vehicle While Breath Alcohol Level Exceeded the Prescribed Limit and Breach of a Condition of Prescribed Fitness.
He was fined $200,000 for the drink-driving offence and a further $10,000 for breaching a condition of prescribed fitness.
The court imposed total fines of $210,000. In default of payment, Speede will serve three months in prison.
