Folly does not always adorn itself in colourful garments and attractive airs; folly also abides and feeds on the flaws of the fête

SOMETIMES, it pounces upon the mischief of the moment and creates an endless roadway of animosity. This very thing happened when a mother faced her two sons on a betting battlefield, and the younger one prevailed, defeating the elder brother. It led to a quiet ascendancy of growth and animosity between the two brothers in their diverse upbringing, one with wealthy folk, while the younger coped with the literature he explored and the tougher realms of employment. But, unknown to his brother, he persevered and proved his manhood, worked hard and seemed to be forgotten by most of the family, even as he pursued diverse and, at times, difficult lifestyles. The pain of defeat that generated the hostility of the bigger brother towards the younger was that their mother had bet on the younger brother. Later, even though he had a more fabulous job through his aunt’s connections, the bigger brother did not find common ground easily. The younger brother toiled on the waterfront. Eventually, the aunt migrated, and the younger brother was encouraged to join the Castle Royal because he was earning now, and the hard life had conditioned him to prepare his meals, while the elder brother and his pals could not fry an egg.

The younger brother also had a small library of books, some of which were rooted in the occult. While the younger brother viewed that collection of his literature as interesting fiction, his older brother and pals saw it as cosmic realms to be explored, as described by one particular book touted. And there’s no literature like mysticism to confuse quickly and feed an ego with all manner of ascending purposes. Their tale is a giant one of Kosmic mystery. Of course, Georgetown had its realm of con artists and victims, unto today. So did the rural areas. But the real mysticism of the younger brother had taught him

to be careful of all kinds of engagements and trusts, even with family. The younger studied the contracts that shouted, “Read before you sign…” The elder brother was intensely suspected to have been murdered and robbed by his private fraternity kinfolk and blood family, who were not part of the initial investment and vision. The ego can shape blunders… Rest in peace and dissolve, and may old acquaintances be remembered only as a dim, shadowy memory to learn from.
