Delinquent drivers should always be charged with murder when they claim a life

Dear Editor,
I HAVE written several letters using the Kaieteur newspaper, but the lawlessness continues.
The lawlessness I am referring to, is the way we use the road in Guyana. British Guiana and Guyana inherited some of the finest laws in the law books which are being ignored by the drivers and other road users. Our laws have not been enforced by the law enforcers over the said period.
When a person of working age is killed on the road it’s an economical loss of the country and emotional loss to the deceased family.
Sir, I would like to challenge any legal-minded person, which include the learned Attorney General and Director of Public Prosecution, that no one should be charged for causing death by dangerous driving but rather murder.
More than 95 percent of the road deaths are caused by speeding. No license driver should accidentally drive above the speed limit, which can lead to death, so therefore its murder and this should not be called causing death by dangerous driving.
Yours truly,
Frank DeAbreu
