HARD work, determination and the unwavering support of family and teachers have earned 11-year-old Zaida Gonzalez of Suddie Primary School a coveted place at Queen’s College after excelling at the 2026 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).
Zaida, who was among Region Two’s top performers with 484.52 marks, has already set her sights on the future. The young scholar hopes to one day become an entrepreneur and build a legacy of her own.
Behind her success stands a strong support system, including her mother, Dr Khilauti Dass; her father, Dr Ordelis Ramirez Gonzalez; and her teacher, Roslyn Osborne, who nurtured her talents and encouraged her to strive for excellence.

Describing her pupil as a bright and gifted child, Osborne said Zaida possesses a sweet and loving personality that endeared her to those around her.
“She is honestly a very sweet, loving and talented child,” Osborne shared.
The teacher noted that while Zaida always displayed great potential, her achievements were made possible through consistent guidance, encouragement and hard work in the classroom.
According to Zaida’s family, the results reflect years of dedication and sacrifice. Her success is not only a personal milestone but also a source of pride for Suddie Primary School and the wider Region Two community.
Her mother, Dr Khilauti Dass, said her daughter’s accomplishment was impressive and that she always knew she would make her proud.
Dr Dass thanked the teachers for working with her daughter and said Zaida has always had a passion for entrepreneurship. She added that her daughter’s achievement is remarkable and that she will continue to support her every step of the way.
Zaida’s accomplishment forms part of an impressive showing by pupils across Region Two, with several pupils securing places at some of Guyana’s most prestigious secondary schools, including Queen’s College and The Bishops’ High School.
