Guyana to host 9th ARIN-CARIB Annual General Meeting in July

GUYANA will host the 9th Annual General Meeting of the Assets Recovery Inter-Agency Network of the Caribbean (ARIN-CARIB) on July 15 and 16 at the Marriott Hotel Guyana, bringing together law enforcement officers, prosecutors and judicial practitioners from across the Caribbean to discuss efforts to combat the proceeds of crime.
The event is being hosted by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Shalimar Ali-Hack, SC, in collaboration with Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Anil Nandlall, SC.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, at 9:00 hrs. Attorney General Nandlall will deliver the feature address, while DPP Ali-Hack will give the opening remarks.
Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Diana O’Brien, who is serving as the current President of ARIN-CARIB, will chair the proceedings on behalf of Guyana.
According to the DPP’s Chambers, ARIN-CARIB is a regional network comprising Caribbean law enforcement officers, prosecutors and judicial practitioners who specialise in recovering the proceeds of crime. During the two-day meeting, participants will make presentations, engage in interactive sessions and report on their respective countries’ successes in combating the proceeds of crime.
The meeting will bring together delegates from English, Dutch, Spanish and French-speaking Caribbean countries, as well as the Overseas Territories, all of which utilise the ARIN-CARIB network to facilitate the exchange of information. The forum will also be attended by observers, speakers and local experts in the field of asset recovery.
This year’s Annual General Meeting will be held under the theme, “From Tracing to Transformation: Building an Asset Recovery-Ready Caribbean.”
