GRADE Five teacher of Riverstown Primary School, Ms Jaidevi Dyal, is recovering after sustaining injuries during Wednesday’s freak storm that impacted several communities across Region Two.
Dyal sustained injuries after a rafter fell and struck her.
She was rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital in an unconscious state and was later transferred to the Lima Regional Hospital. His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali and his team, having learnt of the incident, immediately visited Region Two and other residents affected by the storm.
On Saturday morning, Regional Executive Officer, (REO) Deolall Rooplall, visited Ms Dyal at home to check on her condition and offer the Regional Administration’s support.
During the visit, Ms Dyal recalled the frightening experience and expressed gratitude that her injuries were not more serious. While she continues to experience headaches and some pain, she said she is recovering steadily and remains in good spirits.
The REO was accompanied by Deputy Regional Executive Officer, Omesh Sasenaryan; Regional Health Officer, Dr Ranjeev Singh; Senior Regional Engineer, Kawan Suchit, and Regional Education Officer, Shondelle Hercules, all of whom extended wishes for a speedy recovery.
Mr Rooplall assured Ms Dyal that the Regional Administration remains committed to assisting her in any way possible and encouraged her to contact the relevant programme managers should she require additional support.
The Regional Administration has extended its best wishes to Ms Dyal for a full and speedy recovery as rehabilitation efforts continue across the region following the devastating storm.
