THE Government of Guyana has rolled out a new Online Guyana Passport Application and Appointment System aimed at modernising passport services and reducing long-standing administrative delays, in a major step toward expanding digital public service delivery.
Launched on June 15, 2025, the platform is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Guyana Police Force.
It allows citizens to complete passport applications and schedule appointments entirely online, eliminating the need for extended in-person waiting periods at passport offices.
The system, accessible via Online Guyana Passport Portal (pp.gpf.gov.gy), enables users to register secure accounts, submit application forms electronically, upload required information, and book appointments from any location with internet access.
According to the authorities, the initiative is part of the Government’s broader digital transformation agenda, which seeks to improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in public service delivery. It also reflects ongoing efforts to streamline government operations and reduce congestion at service centres.
Minister of Home Affairs, Oneidge Walrond, said the platform represents a significant upgrade in how citizens interact with passport services, noting that it is designed to make the process more convenient, user-friendly, and time-efficient while strengthening service delivery standards.
Officials said the system incorporates secure authentication measures and user-focused design features to protect personal data while ensuring a smooth application process. Email notifications and automated appointment confirmations are also included to improve communication with applicants.
Key features of the system include online account creation, electronic completion of passport applications, appointment scheduling, secure submission processes, and reduced processing bottlenecks within the passport system.
Citizens are being encouraged to transition to the online platform and familiarise themselves with its functions as the Government moves to fully integrate digital services across key areas of public administration.
