MINISTER of Education, Sonia Parag, on Sunday, announced that parents and pupils awaiting the outcome of this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) can expect the results to be released on July 10.

In a video message posted on the ministry’s social media pages, Parag said the Ministry of Education had recently received confirmation of the release date and wanted to provide clarity to parents and pupils, who have been anxiously awaiting the results.

“I don’t want to keep parents in suspense,” Parag said, adding, “We have recently received the date for the release of the NGSA results, and that will be on the 10th of July. So, parents, you can mark that in your calendar. Children, you can also mark that in your calendar.”

The minister noted that she had seen numerous enquiries from parents throughout the past week and had even met pupils eager to know when the results would become available.

According to Parag, the results will be released by the Government of Guyana through the Ministry of Education and will provide placement details for those who are scheduled to enter secondary schools in the new academic year.

Addressing the thousands of candidates who wrote the examination in May, the minister encouraged them to view the assessment as a stepping stone in their educational journey.

“I want you to know that this is one stepping stone; you’re moving to another level,” she said, while acknowledging the anxiety and anticipation many are experiencing as they await their results.

Parag urged pupils to remain positive regardless of their performance, noting that the examination represents only one stage of a much broader academic and career path.

In April, it was indicated that some 15,938 pupils across Guyana were set to sit the two-day examination in May.

Ahead of the examination, the minister had encouraged candidates to approach the assessment with confidence, reminding them that years of preparation had equipped them for success.

She had also urged pupils not to be overwhelmed by the significance of the examination, encouraging them to remain focus carefully read instructions and review their work before submission.

Meanwhile, Parag also extended best wishes to learners preparing to write their end-of-term examinations this week.

She noted that the assessments mark the conclusion of the current school year and will determine their progression to the next grade level in September.

“I wish you all the best, and I hope that you have been giving the kind of attention that needs to be given to your subjects, so that you would be successful,” the minister said.
