WOMEN are being encouraged to take advantage of a new opportunity to become entrepreneurs while strengthening care services in their communities through the government’s National Care Economy Initiative.
Registration is now open for the Care Economy Co-Invest Programme, a Ministry of Human Services and Social Security initiative aimed at establishing childcare and elderly care facilities in 10 regions.
The programme forms part of the government’s manifesto commitment to support families and create economic opportunities, particularly for women.
Under the co-invest model, individuals and groups will receive support to set up home-based or community-based care centres. These facilities are expected to provide affordable care while creating jobs and empowering women.
Those who register will benefit from co-investment financing, free training in childcare and elderly care, business mentorship and technical support to help run safe, sustainable centres.
The ministry said the initiative was open to individuals and groups of three to eight people from any community where care facilities are needed.
Applicants must have access to an appropriate, secure space within their home or community and be willing to undergo mandatory training.
The programme is an ongoing initiative and is seeking broad participation from women across Guyana to help expand access to quality care services for children and senior citizens.
Interested people are encouraged to register as soon as possible, with additional details to be released in the coming weeks.
