According to police the estimated street value of the narcotics destroyed is $847,000

POLICE have destroyed approximately 5,000 cannabis plants during a joint eradication exercise conducted at Kimbia, Upper Berbice River.

The operation, led by a Gazetted Officer, was carried out between May 28 and 29, 2026.

During the exercise, ranks discovered a three-acre cannabis field containing plants ranging between two and four feet in height.

Police said the entire cultivation was uprooted and destroyed by fire.

The estimated street value of the narcotics destroyed is $847,000.

No arrests were made and the operation was conducted without incident.

Investigations are continuing.
