ALLOTTEES in the Culvert City New Housing Development in Lethem Region Nine recently shared reactions of excitement as 140 individuals officially confirmed their allocated lots in Lethem recently.
The beneficiaries also thanked the government for progressing housing development in the area.
The beneficiaries included Shamar Cox, Hosea Samuels, and Donna Northe.
Mr. Cox said, “On behalf of me and my family and friends, I do appreciate my lot for the first time as a Guyanese living in this country. As you can see, lot 302. I do want to thank the President, the Vice President and each and every one [for] …playing a role in this, because I am a winner too. So [I will] just enjoy and I’m thankful for what I have.”
Meanwhile, Ms. Samuels, a 24-year-old, said she is incredibly grateful for her land. Samuels shared, “Where we stay now is not our land. The lady just asks us every day when we go get our land. So, I’m very happy to get my own land as a young woman.”
Northe also expressed her excitement. “I am glad for this opportunity to get a house in Guyana,” she said adding, “But with the government, how they working, I like the way they working because this privilege we never get in we life.”
In the coming weeks, more Guyanese will be allocated lots, marking another chapter in the government’s continued efforts to providing affordable housing to all citizens. These allocations do not simply tick a box, they open doors to new beginnings, offering more Guyanese the chance to own land, and build a brighter, more secured future.
