– Anns Grove FC produce big win
DESPITE inclement weather conditions at the Victoria ground, the second round of the EDFA/GFF Under-15 Youth Ensemble Tournament delivered an avalanche of goals, with attacking football taking centre stage as several teams produced dominant performances while keeping their opponents scoreless.
The opening encounter saw Ann’s Grove FC produce one of the biggest wins of the tournament, crushing Mahaicony Western Lions 14-0 in a ruthless display of attacking football. Ezekiel George led the charge with an outstanding five-goal performance, while Ronoko Morris added a hat-trick. Quashaun Hart netted twice, while Quashaun Campbell, Jeremy Fordyce, Anthony Hall, and Kemani Chapman each contributed a goal to complete the emphatic victory in the first game of the second round of the EDFA/GFF U15 Youth Ensemble Tournament.
The second encounter also ended in another one-sided affair as BV/TU defeated Golden Stars 8-0. Xavier Todd and Mark Glasgow each scored braces, while Lamar Campbell and Deon Benn also found the back of the net. An own goal from Owen Josiah added to Golden Stars’ misery. Following the match, Golden Stars lodged a protest regarding the outcome, alleging the use of overage players by BV/TU.
Game three produced yet another goal fest as Buxton All Stars overwhelmed Haslington United FC 16-0 in the largest margin of victory on the day. Joel Stephen was unstoppable with six goals, while Shakeil Callender supported with four strikes. Yao Roberts scored twice, and Malachi Jarvis, Malick Sobers, Allan Mc Kay, and Kaheim Henry all added their names to the scoresheet in a dominant, attacking display.
The fourth match proved to be more competitive, with Mahaica Determinators securing a solid 2-0 victory over Plaisance FC. Kaheim Henry scored both goals to lead Mahaica Determinators to victory and continue their positive run in the competition.
In the final game of the day, Melanie FC completed another commanding performance with an 8-0 triumph over Victoria Kings. Trevor De Jonge led the attack with a hat-trick, while Le Bron Semple scored twice. Anthony Rodney, Alberto Milano, and Jaheem Nicholson also contributed goals as Melanie FC closed the day in impressive fashion.
The Victoria ground witnessed an extraordinary day of youth football action, with goals flowing freely despite the difficult weather conditions. The second round of the EDFA/GFF U15 Youth Ensemble Tournament continues to highlight the tremendous young talent emerging within the East Demerara Football Association.
