MINISTER of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues, on Thursday, announced that 39,484 visitors came to Guyana in March 2026.

This, according to the minister, represents a 13.3 per cent over the corresponding period in 2025.

Minister Rodrigues expressed extreme excitement given this positive increase in visitor arrival numbers in almost every month of the year. To the ministry, this demonstrates that their strategy is working, and that the tourism and hospitality industry in Guyana is thriving.

More important than that, according to the minister, is the fact that ‘Destination Guyana’ is a resilient one. She pointed out that despite the issues happening around the world, Guyana remains a strong and resilient destination, one that is deeply rooted in culture and authentic experiences.

“So, I want to thank everybody who’s been travelling, all of our visitors, especially also our domestic travellers,” she expressed. With this, the minister mentioned that there has been a notable increase in locals travelling domestically (persons from Georgetown, other parts of Region Four, and Region Three, travelling to interior locations).

“So, our interior lodges are giving us positive responses that they are seeing an increase in international visitors, but also from domestic visitors. So, I thought I’d let everybody know that we are pleased that the tourism and hospitality sector is thriving. Visitor arrivals continue to increase; and you can expect the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce to be doing a lot more, especially in the coming days and weeks, especially as we celebrate our 60th independence anniversary,” the minister affirmed.
