SENIOR Minister in the Office of the President with Responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh, met with Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for the Western Hemisphere at the United States Department of Commerce, Isabella Cascarano, on the margins of the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Maryland, United States of America.
The discussion, according to information from the Senior Minister’s Facebook page, centred on ways in which the two countries can advance shared economic interests, with particular emphasis on fostering private sector partnerships and identifying new investment and commercial opportunities.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to building a more resilient and diversified economic partnership between the two nations, signalling a continued push to broaden bilateral engagement beyond traditional sectors.
Guyana’s delegation at the meeting included Senior Director of Investment at Go-Invest, John Edghill, and Executive Director of AmchamGuyana, Richard Leo, alongside a strong contingent of private sector leaders.
Among the companies represented were Beharry Holdings Inc., Banks DIH Holdings Inc., Citizens Bank Guyana Inc., Demerara Distillers Limited, DCSN Manufacturing Inc., Complete Medical Examinations Prep., and Harris Paints (Guyana) Ltd. — a cross-section of firms reflecting Guyana’s growing appetite for deeper commercial ties with the United States.
The engagement comes as Guyana continues to position itself as one of the hemisphere’s most dynamic investment destinations, with the SelectUSA Summit offering a key platform to court American capital and forge new partnerships across manufacturing, financial services, distribution, and healthcare.
