YOU wonder why the former WPA big-wigs from the glorious 1970s do not shut their mouth because each time they open it they allow people to disrespect and despise them. They sprout so much incredible political immoralities that people everywhere just dismiss them as minds long gone and long atrophied.
Moses Bhagwan is 92 and it is sad that he, Kwayana at 102 and Clive Thomas at 91, cannot see that they are living in a world of make-belief. At a deep, psychological level, these people belong to the world of Tennessee Williams’ characters. A Tennessee Williams personality is someone deeply stuck in the past that at a profound psychic level cannot see they are not what they were 50 years ago, and at that same profound psychic level, believe that they are still great, unaware that they have fallen from grace.
People like Bhagwan, I sincerely believe, still think the Guyanese people adore them and see them as heroes whereas the new generation of Guyana thinks they have failed them. Let’s quote what Bhagwan has to say of me and then we will do the analysis of Bhagwan being a Tennessee Williams character.
Bhagwan noted: “Freddie Kissoon, the plastic political animal, has shifted loyalty to the power of political conquest.”
I fought for five months in 2020 to prevent political conquest of my country while Bhagwan, Clive Thomas, Eusi Kwayana and Rupert Roopnaraine sided with political conquerors that pursued permanent power. Of course they failed. Bhagwan and the names listed above are sad, tragic people. They do not see that Guyanese saw them as siding with those who tried to convolute the 2020 election.
I have provided evidence against all of these people; let me provide it once again, this time in relation to Bhagwan. During the election disaster of 2020, GECOM Commissioner, Desmond Trotman, selected from the WPA to represent APNU in GECOM, wrote that all his actions in GECOM during the March 2020 election insanity would have been met with the approval of Walter Rodney and Moses Bhagwan.
The actions of Trotman involved voting for the result of an election that was not based on electoral legitimacy and these results were rejected by the international community.
I was appalled that Trotman would cite Bhagwan’s name because the man, Bhagwan, I knew would never support rigged national election so one party can remain in power forever. On July 4, 2020, I sent Bhagwan the following email: “I will publicly call on you to respond to what Desmond Trotman wrote that you would defend the things he has done. He named the things he has done as a GECOM commissioner and said he is sure people like the two of you among others in the WPA would stand by what he has done. This man is part of a four-month-old saga to deny people the right to have their votes counted. On March 7 he voted to have GECOM accept Mingo’s fraudulent tabulation and since then he has been involved in (redacted) the election and he wrote in Stabroek on June 24 that people like the two of you would defend what he has done. The Guyanese people will soon see what you two guys are made of if you do not respond. I await your reply. Regards, Freddie.”
Moses Bhagwan replied to me the same day with these words: “I have received your mail. I will give it some thought.” Despite several reminders, Bhagwan never replied. In a previous email I sent him in April 2020, I asked him to denounce the attempted election rigging. Here is his reply: “Dear Freddie, I had promised to reply to a recent email from you. Did you receive anything. I am trying to find it on my computer but can’t. Best Moses.”
Moses Bhagwan, like Rupert Ropnaraine, like Clive Thomas, like Maurice Odle, like Eusi Kwayana never used even one word to denounce the worst attempt in modern world politics to reverse a legitimate election result in Guyana. Let’s return to Tennessee Wiliams. I have no doubt in my mind that Bhagwan in 2026 sees himself as the Bhagwan of the 1970s.
He writes as if he is still one of the heroes of the 1970s. He, like his, former WPA colleagues, completely obfuscate their political degeneracy. Bhagwan and his former stars of the 1970s refuse to see, like the Tennessee Williams characters, what they have become. And what have they become? People who accepted what happened for five months in 2020, and that acceptance would have seen Guyana having a permanent APNU government. From 1968 to 2020, I have fought for free and fair elections. Bhagwan supported rigged election in 2020. He has no moral standing to criticise me. Part three is coming up.
