Authorities in Region 10 have moved to shut down what they describe as a “misleading narrative” circulating on social media, following the spread of a photograph showing a teacher and pupils seated on the floor at Amelia’s Ward Primary School.
In a statement, the Department of Education in Region 10 said the image does not reflect any shortage of furniture, but rather a temporary, controlled arrangement implemented while sections of the school undergo treatment for fleas.
Officials stressed that the measure was planned and supervised, with Grade Six pupils accommodated in a way that ensured their safety and continued engagement in classroom activities during the short-term disruption.
“There is no shortage of furniture at Amelia’s Ward Primary School,” the department stated, noting that the situation captured in the photograph has been taken out of context and is being used to fuel public concern.
The department underscored that such temporary adjustments are sometimes necessary to address environmental or health-related issues promptly, and should not be interpreted as a systemic failure within the education sector.
It also cautioned against the spread of misinformation, warning that unverified content shared online can erode public trust and create unnecessary alarm among parents and stakeholders.
The regional education authorities reaffirmed their commitment to student welfare, safety, and transparency, assuring that the public will continue to be updated on any developments affecting schools.
