NATIONAL U-17 batter and Demerara U-15 Captain, 14-year-old Lomar Seecharran, scored two of his seven centuries this year, including 151 from 124 balls with 17 fours and four sixes for Champions Demerara against the GCB’s X1 at the LBI ground and 130 for Champions Georgetown against East Bank in the DCB inter-Association 50-overs competition.
The left-hander scored a century on his Guyana U-13 debut last year, but was surprisingly left out of the GCB’s X1 for the GCB’s U-19 tournament scheduled to commence today.
Seecharran ended the CWI U-16 rain-affected series against Barbados as the leading runs scorer, acknowledged that he was surprised and disappointed not to have been selected for at least the GCB X1.
The DCC opener, who was born on November 2, 2011, in Georgetown, said that he will not let this disappointment break his spirit. His plan is to let his bat do the talking.
Lomar was born to Lon and Marquita Seecharran and has one sibling.
“I attended Mae’s Primary School, Mae’s Secondary School, and, recently, transferred to Morgan’s Learning Centre.
I became interested in cricket when I was young by watching matches and playing in the yard with my dad, which made me enjoy the sport more.
I am doing well in my studies. I stay focused and always try
my best to improve.” Informed Lomar, who made a triple century last year against Blairmont in Berbice.
The talented Lomar disclosed that his growing up has been enjoyable.
“I never had one of those rough childhoods because my parents tried their best to give me everything I needed.
My hobbies include playing cricket, table tennis, swimming and fishing while my favourite cricketer is Brian Lara.
I admire his strong work ethic and record-breaking achievements in cricket” continued Lomar who joined DCC at the age of four.
“It was mainly a decision made by my dad, as he believed the club’s history and strong foundation would be the best place for me to start my cricket journey.
My most memorable moment in cricket was scoring a triple century at the U-15 level.
I scored my first century at the age of 12 against the Diplomats’ Second Division team. Currently, I have scored seven centuries, along with a triple century” Lomar proudly declared.
