CAC championships…

GUYANA fought valiantly in their second outing of the Central American and Caribbean championships but were unable to achieve a win on Friday when they battled El Salvador in the Dominican Republic.
In the Team category Shemar Britton went up against El Salvador’s Jaime Galeano; he lost the first set 13-11 in a close game but showed more grit and passion to win the next two sets 11-6 and 12-10.
Galeano took the fourth set 11-8, but Britton showed resolve to bounce back to close out the final set 11-5 for the match 3-2.
Jonathan Van Lange would lose in straight sets to Edgardo Sanchez 12-10, 11-3 and 11-5 while Elishaba Jhonson lost in similar fashion, 3-0, to Fernando Alfaro.
Briton however came back to beat Sanchez 3 sets to 2 after winning 1-9, 11-5, 6-11, 9-11 and 11-6.
The deciding match-up was played by Van Lange, but he lost 3-1 to Galeano despite winning the first set 11-9.
The local men’s side also lost to Mexico 3-0 in the best of 5 matchup on Thursday.
Britton went down 3-1 to Dario Arce: 11-5, 12-10, 11-6 and 4-11.
Johnson’s clash also went the distance after he won the first set 11-8 but lost the remaining sets 11-2, 11-4 and 11-4.
Bissu lost in straight sets, 11-5, 11-2 and 11-7, as they were clean swept 3-0.
