A 55-year-old self-employed man is in critical but stable condition after he was allegedly stabbed during a dispute with a neighbour at Dowding Street, Kitty, Georgetown, on Wednesday morning.
The police said the incident occurred about 06:45hrs on March 11, 2026.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim and the suspect, both residents of Dowding Street, have been involved in an ongoing dispute regarding building materials being left at the victim’s gate.
It is alleged that on the morning in question, the victim was exiting his yard when he observed a load of sand dumped in front of his property. He reportedly approached the suspect and asked him to remove the sand, but the suspect refused, an argument ensued and escalated into a physical confrontation.
According to the police, the suspect then left the scene, returned shortly after with a sharp object and stabbed the victim once in the abdomen before fleeing in an unknown direction.
The injured man subsequently rode to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation Accident and Emergency Unit, where he was examined by a doctor on duty and admitted as a patient.
His condition has been listed as critical but stable.
Investigators have observed CCTV cameras in the area, which are currently being reviewed as part of the probe.
Investigations are ongoing.
