During the ongoing extradition hearing of Azruddin and Nazar Mohamed, Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman on Friday warned the public against recording or posting court proceedings online, describing the material as sensitive.
Prosecutor Glenn Hanoman raised concerns that testimony was being documented and shared on social media pages linked to the businessmen’s relatives, sometimes inaccurately.
When questioned, Hana Mohamed, sister of Azruddin, denied recording the proceedings, saying, “I have not been recording. I have been taking notes like other journalists.”
Magistrate Latchman stressed the seriousness of the matter, cautioning, “No one should be posting evidence online. It’s very sensitive information.”
The committal hearing continues with cross-examination of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sharon Roopchand-Edwards.
The defence requested that the Permanent Secretary produce her notebook, and the prosecution raised no objections.
Roopchand-Edwards has been ordered to bring the notebook today at 1:30pm, which she had used to jot notes while preparing her statement.
