Harpy Eagles practice game at Everest
MATHEW Nandu’s X1 were 6-0 in reply to Tevin Imlach’s X1 180 all out in 72.4 overs when bails were lifted on the opening day of the first three-day practice match for Guyana Harpy Eagles
yesterday at the Everest ground.
Navindra Persaud (4) and his skipper Nandu (2) were at the crease when play ended in overcast conditions.
Raymond Perez (20) and Umraj Balgobin scored 59 from 140 balls with six fours and two sixes.
Imlach 36 from 72 balls with two boundaries and the left- handed Balgobin took the score to 115 before Richard Ramdeholl bowled the West Indies player on a spin-friendly track and well-
manicured outfield.
Mavindra Dindyal hit two fours in his 61-ball 24 but just when he seemed set for a big score, he clipped Persaud to short mid-wicket.
After Balgobin was removed by Ramdeholl only Tomanni Caesar (21) got into double figures as West Indies U-19 World Cup all-rounder Jonathon Van Lange (3), Richie Looknauth (0)
Yeudister Persaud (2), Nityanand Mathura (3) and Isai Thorne (0) all fell quickly as the last six wickets tumbled for 18 runs mainly due to poor shot selection.
Ramdeholl captured 3-29 while Persaud, Zeynul Ramsammy and Chris Ramraj had two wickets each.
Today is the second day and it is hoped that the batters will demonstrate more cricket awareness and proper temperament as they prepare for their opening game against the Windwards in St Vincent on April 12.
