The Government will distribute the $100,000 cash grant announced in Budget 2026 through the banking system.
According to Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh, the rollout of payments is expected to begin next week, with public servants set to be the first group to receive the grant.
Speaking with the National Communications Network (NCN), the minister explained that the shift to bank-based payments forms part of efforts to modernise the distribution process and ensure faster access to the funds for eligible citizens.
To support the new system, the Government will also introduce an online portal that will allow Guyanese to register for a bank account if they do not already have one.
The initiative is intended to ensure that individuals without existing accounts are still able to access their grants and participate in the payment programme without delays.
