Dear Editor,
AS we approach the General and Regional Elections on Monday, September 1, 2025, Humanitarian Mission Guyana Inc. proudly joins the voices of countless citizens in recognising and celebrating the tremendous progress our country has made under the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali and the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C).
Guyana is going through remarkable transformation—one that is visible in every region and felt in the lives of citizens. We are seeing a new Guyana emerge—modern, inclusive, and full of promise—and this change is the direct result of clear vision, sound leadership, and a government committed to service and development.
A new era for education in Guyana: One of the most notable areas of transformation is in the education sector. From nursery to university, the government has implemented comprehensive, people-centred policies that are reshaping the future of learning in Guyana.
We applaud President Ali and his administration for the tremendous strides made to ensure free and accessible education for all Guyanese. The return of the “Because We Care” cash grant—now increased and reaching every child in the public and private school system—has brought much-needed relief to parents and guardians, helping to cover school expenses and ease the financial burden on families.
Infrastructure development in the education sector has also been commendable. New schools are being built, existing ones are being expanded and refurbished, and facilities are being equipped with modern resources, technology, and materials to enhance the quality of learning. From rural hinterland villages to coastal communities, no child is being left behind.
The rollout of smart classrooms, internet access in schools, and a renewed focus on STEM education reflects the government’s readiness to prepare our youth for a globalised digital economy. Additionally, scholarships and tertiary education programmes, including those through the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) initiative, are opening doors for thousands of students who previously had limited access to higher learning.
As an organisation that works closely with children, schools, and youth-focused programmes, Humanitarian Mission Guyana Inc. has witnessed the real-world impact of these policies. We have seen young minds blossom with confidence and hope. We have seen single mothers proudly send their children to school, empowered by cash grants and community support. We have seen communities uplifted by new educational infrastructure that once seemed unimaginable.
Infrastructure and national development: The investments go beyond education. Under the stewardship of President Ali and the PPP/C, Guyana has experienced massive infrastructure development—roads, bridges, hospitals, housing schemes, and energy projects are all contributing to a stronger national framework and better quality of life for citizens.
These developments are not just about concrete and steel—they are about connecting people, creating jobs, and building an environment where businesses can grow, and families can thrive. The government’s focus on sustainable and inclusive development ensures that progress is not concentrated in one area but spread across the country for the benefit of all.
A call for continued progress: As we stand at this pivotal moment in our democratic journey, I urge all eligible voters to consider the road we have travelled—and the road still ahead. We are not just voting for a party; we are voting for a vision of continued transformation, one that values education, uplifts families, strengthens communities, and unites the nation.
President Irfaan Ali and the PPP/C have proven their dedication to the people of Guyana. They have led with compassion, vision, and results. Their track record speaks for itself—and the momentum we have gained must not be lost.
Let us vote to keep Guyana on the path of progress, equity, and opportunity. Let us vote for continued development, for the dreams of our children, and for a Guyana that works for every citizen.
On behalf of myself and the Humanitarian Mission Guyana Inc., I express our full support for the re-election of President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali and the continued leadership of the PPP/C. Together, we can build a future that reflects the true potential of our great nation.
Yours sincerely,
Suresh Sugrim
