Former City Mayor and now sitting People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) city councillor, Patricia Chase-Greene, fired up a large crowd of supporters at Stabroek Market Square on Friday evening, urging Georgetown vendors and residents to reject the failed leadership of the APNU-led City Council.

Chase-Greene, once a long-standing member of the APNU, used her personal experience in the belly of the system to connect with her audience.

Speaking directly to vendors, she recalled the struggles she faced as Mayor when battling for their rights inside the council chamber.

“City Council is doing nothing that is progressive and that is meaningful to the city,” Chase-Greene declared, pointing to years of neglect and broken promises.

“I know what’s wrong with them. I came from the belly of the whale. When they want votes, they come to vendors and promise them anything. Reject them.”

Now contesting as a candidate under the PPP/C banner, Chase-Greene told supporters she has no regrets about her decision to cross the floor.

Instead, she said she stands proudly as a servant of the people, committed to ensuring vendors and residents alike benefit from real progress.

She highlighted the many programmes and initiatives rolled out under the PPP/C Government to improve city markets, restore critical infrastructure, and uplift communities, contrasting them with the stagnation of the APNU-controlled municipality.
