ART is a beautiful thing that allows artists to express themselves through their respective pieces. On Saturday, more than 20 artists were able to display their different forms of art at Canvas Chronicles.

Canvas Chronicles aims to bring the talents of several Guyanese artists to the front in the form of an art show. The art show was created by young artist, Ashley St. Aubyn; Canvas Chronicles is her first solo art exhibition.

The two-day event will conclude today at the Umana Yana, on upper High Street, Kingston, in down-town Georgetown; it will feature traditional and other forms of art to appeal to the audience’s creative side, including dance, poetry, steelpan, fashion, as well as, art displays by local known and unknown artists. Canvas Chronicles was created to showcase more of the arts, bringing light to more hidden local artists.

The funds raised at the event will contribute towards hosting free art workshops for children and other interested people. The art workshops will see students, ages 13 and older, learning about the different forms of art from qualified persons within the industry.

In an invited comment on Saturday, St. Aubyn expressed, “Canvas Chronicles so far has been quite successful; we have a lot of artists displaying their work. Quite a few persons came out today to support, and I do hope we have the same support the next day, as the event is two days. So I encourage anyone to come out and support the local artists, because this is part of Guyana’s rich culture and diversity.”
Canvas Chronicles is being sponsored by Banks DIH, Zoon, Art.Spire, St. Aubyn Arts, and The Wine Vault.
