REIGNING KFC elite league champions, the Guyana Defence Force club has been plunged into mourning after their goalkeeper, Enoch Carmichael, tragically collapsed and died during a training session on Wednesday at the GFF National Centre at Providence.
An official with the team confirmed to Chronicle Sport that the top player collapsed during his goalkeeping drills and was unresponsive.
Team management rushed Carmichael to the Diamond Hospital after which he was pronounced dead.
Carmicheal was a cherished member of the GDF side, winning several goalkeeping awards and MVP for the Elite league team.
GDF, two-time champion with its last title in 2023 is comfortably leading the current points standing and is gearing up to represent Guyana at the Caribbean Shield Club Championship.
