What laws did Justice Kissoon apply in ruling on the recent strike?

Dear Editor,
THE Judge ruled that striking teachers must be paid for days they were on strike; and for the government to continue its voluntary free service of deduction of union dues and transmitting the same to the Union. What Constitutional or Labour Laws were cited and applied?

It would be instructive and educational for the public and private sectors, labour law teachers and students, human resource managers, and chief executives of companies to be so informed.
There is no such law to compel an employer to pay wages/salaries for the duration of any strike.

There is also no law to compel an employer to deduct union dues. The public awaits the appropriate response of the High Court Judge, Sandil Kissoon.
The experts in this field find that this is a flawed judgement that will be overturned on appeal to higher courts.
Yours sincerely,
Joshua Singh
