Saying ‘yes’ to ‘we’ President

Dear Editor,

DEVOURED by development, diplomacy and decency, detractors are once again attempting to disparage the dignity of His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Irfan Ali, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, who last Friday was conferred with the Global African Leadership Award in Accra, Ghana.

These denigrators, not satisfied by being clubbed with embarrassment and identified as tongue-twisters, not once, twice or thrice but as perpetual constants, have been slapped once again on both sides of the face with this latest international accolade presented to President Ali.

The US Government sanctioned those PNC officials and families when they attempted to rig the 2020 general and regional elections. Holding Guyana under duress for five agonising months, they were ordered by the US Secretary of State to “step aside” so that democracy could prevail. President Ali was honoured for his “strong and transformational leadership,” during the Africa Prosperity Championships Awards. What a shame for the PNC to be scarred for life as “election riggers!”

The cry of ‘apartheid,’ fell flat on its face when these destabilisers visited Washington earlier last year to petition against President Ali and his government. Unable to derive the intended result, they returned home with their tails between their legs.

These “cry babies” once again sulked in discomfort as they were not pampered by the touring delegation of Afro-American politicians last November. Prejudice does not prevail with President Ali and the PPP/C Government. It is the PNC who will employ only their own “kit and kin.” President Ali accepted the award “on behalf of all our ancestors who came from Africa and all Guyanese.”

Signing the worst, lopsided oil agreement, it is the former PNC Government who have agreed to sell out the wealth of the nation and bind the people of Guyana to receive what the PPP/C Government did not negotiate for. It’s not hiding behind the sanctity of a contract, but abiding with the terms and conditions which force compliance.

The PNC is known to create a mess of everything, walking away and then wanting the PPP/C to clean up after them. President Ali, in three years, has already propelled this nation to the status of being one of the richest nations per capita in this hemisphere. The PNC dragged this country down to economic bankruptcy twice!

Many have walked away from the cabal of tyrants who spread lies and deceit, claiming to have won an election only to be labelled as “sanctimonious gangster.” Even the former President’s son-in-law, Dominic Gaskin, said “enough is enough.”

At the last local election, many PNC supporters and party members crossed the floor to join with the PPP/C Government. Head of the OAS observer mission to Guyana’s 2020 elections, Bruce Golding, had said: “I have never seen a more transparent effort to alter the results of an election.”

All the heads of CARICOM have aligned themselves with President Ali and have distanced themselves from the PNC and the naysayers. President Ali was honoured with Barbados’ highest award last year by Prime Minister Mia Mottley.

At the Presidential Gala Dinner in Ghana, President Irfaan Ali was also recognised for “protecting his country from an outrageous and aggressive attempt of neo-colonisation and unwarranted foreign aggression.”

President Ali has been a forefront aggressor in demanding an apology for slavery and reparations for reimbursement from the former colonists. He was applauded for keeping the peace in the Caribbean waters when he met with Venezuela’s President Maduro who wanted to invade Guyana last year and seize Essequibo.

Wanting to do business with Guyana and President Ali, the African nation last year had sent financial teams to visit the country and President Ali. Together, they have initiated bank loans to finance projects.

African investments bring a closer relationship for both countries and people of all descent. Praising President Ali, the AGLA’s Chairman, Mr. Darko said: “The need for unity, inclusivity and shared prosperity in Guyana’s multiracial society is highly commendable.”

President Ali’s great reputation is acknowledged in any part of the world and he is lovingly welcomed with open arms.

The President of Guyana is renowned for his outreaches in all the regions in Guyana and in the Diaspora also.

He was given a “rock star’ reception and treatment when he twice visited the village of Baracara last year.

Acclaimed as “awe President,” the Afro Guyanese villagers chanted “yes,” jumped, sang and danced with joy as the President committed the government’s support to developing the village for the betterment of all.

Linden is no exception and so is any village the President has visited. “Seeing these children and the young people here, recreation and health wellness is an important part of community life, and one of the things that we are pursuing across the country is ensuring that we create opportunities for health and wellness,” President Ali said during his visit.

Guyana’s and West Indies latest fast-bowling sensationalist, Shamar Joseph, who also hails from Baracara, is all praise for President Ali and accredited him for all help provided. Isn’t this latest comment another slap in the face of those real and surreal critics who want the African organisation to renege on the Global African Leadership Award given to President Ali?

“The truth hurts, but what we must never do in CARICOM is to avoid the truth and avoid our principle.” So said Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, when referring to the Guyanese gang of rebellious fanatics who are attempting to smear President Ali’s image.

Yours respectfully,
Jai Lall.
