GLTA lauds 2024 budget

THE Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) lauds 2024 sport budget.

THE Guyana Lawn Tennis Association has welcomed the unprecedented allocation of $4.6B in the 2024 budget to the sport sector.

In recent years the executive of the GLTA has established a close working relationship and camaraderie with the National Sports Commission and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport. Our frequent interactions have resulted in needs assessment of the tennis fraternity which resulted in the fulfilment of many commitments to our sport.

These commitments include, but are not limited to the Rehabilitation of the National Racquet Centre tennis courts with the installation of lights and new bleachers and the completion of the National Gymnasium tennis court with the installation of lights and bleachers.

The support for players to compete at the local and international levels and for coaches to be certified and accredited by the International Tennis Federation, as well as the support for the National Tennis Academy are also initiatives that the MCYS has been lauded for

As a result of the above-mentioned positions, our players and coaches can compete within the region and enhance their game strategies, fitness levels, and coaching knowledge to align with the goals and objectives of the GLTA.

In light of the foregoing, the GLTA looks forward to continued synergies with the National Sports Commission, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, and by extension, the Government of Guyana.

The partnerships thus far have allowed players, coaches, and officials to grow in their respective areas of expertise and most importantly, alleviated significant financial burdens from the parents of our players.
