– one month bonus for discipline services

Senior Minister with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh on Friday announced a 6.5 per cent salary increase for Guyana’s public servants that will be retroactive to January 2023.

Minister Singh also announced a month tax-free bonus to all members of the discipline services which will benefit 12,000 members of the Uniformed Services and will place an additional $1.5 billion of disposable income in their hands.

For the first time, this bonus will be paid to civilian employees of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).

Minister Singh related that work would start immediately to ensure that the increase is processed and paid to eligible employees together with their December salaries.

That means that when salaries for December are paid, all public servants, teachers, members of the disciplined services,  constitutional officeholders and government pensioners will receive the increase.

Last year, Public Servants were given an eight per cent retroactive salary increase.

He reminded the public that this increase joins numerous other inventions including $25,000 bonus cash grants for all public servants, which will also be payable in their December salaries.
