‘Tommy Lee’ drowns at Rock Creek Backdam

POLICE are investigating an alleged drowning of an identifiable man, known as “Tommy Lee,” which occurred on Wednesday at Rock Creek Backdam, Mazaruni River, in Region Seven.
According to the police, on the day in question, at 08:00 hrs, an intoxicated “Tommy Lee” went to Vanessa’s Mining Camp at Rock Creek Backdam and started to converse with one Lennox Adolphus.

“He then proceeded to an old mining pit located about 20 feet away from Vanessa’s Mining Camp to swim. Shortly after, Adolphus left and went to do some work in Vannesa’s kitchen, leaving him in the Pit swimming by himself,” the police said in a release.
It is alleged that when Adolphus was finished in the kitchen, he went to check on “Tommy Lee” but he was nowhere to be seen.

Acting on a hunch, Adolphus decided to conduct a search of the pit, and there he recovered Tommy’s motionless body beneath the water.
Police were contacted, and a rank, on arrival at the scene, checked the body of the victim and found no marks of violence on him. Thereafter, the body was transported to the Bartica Regional Hospital as investigation continues.
