TO bolster road safety on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD), the Road Safety Council of Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) and traffic officers from the Regional Police Division 4C, on Monday, carried out a traffic operation resulting in 165 traffic offence cases being recorded.|
According to a release from the Guyana Police Force, the simultaneous traffic enforcement exercises was carried out within the Sparendaam, Beterverwagting, Vigilance, Cove and John, and Mahaica station districts between 07:00 hrs and 18:00 hrs.
“These cases were for traffic offences such as an uncertified motor vehicle, unlicenced driver, failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to stop when required by police dressed in uniform, obscured ID mark, dangerous driving, careless driving, tint, speeding, leaving motor vehicle in a dangerous position, breach of insurance, and driving a motor vehicle while breath alcohol level exceeds the prescribed limit,” the release said.
A breakdown of the cases made by the station district revealed 21 at Sparendaam, 87 at Beterverwagting, 18 at Vigilance, eight at Cove and John and 31 at Mahaica.
