Barbados CAC boxing team here for 10-day camp

A five-member Barbados boxing contingent which will represent that Island at next month’s CAC games arrived in Guyana on Monday to prepare with the Guyana team in a 10-day Camp.
Under the watchful eyes of Coach Mark Innis, the Bajans, comprising three males and a female pugilist, commenced their training stint on Monday with some ‘laps’ around the National Park before doing some Gym work at Camp Ayanganna.

According to Coach Innis, Tyree Tartt, Charles Cox, Ju-Sean Shepherd and female Kimberly Gittens, did some weights training yesterday before having a sparring session at the Andrew ‘Six head’ Lewis Gym in Albouystown.

“Every other day we wil lbe doing sparring sessions here at (Six heads Gym) with boxers like Olympian Keevin Allicock and Desmond Amsterdam.

The standard of Amateur in Guyana is the highest in the English speaking Caribbean and we will benefit a lot from sparring with Guyana’s CAC boxers and others” said Coach Innis.

Technical Director of the GBA Terrence Poole, Lennox Daniels and Cuban Coach Francisco Hernandez Roland along with Innis are working with both teams as they prepare for the Central American and Caribbean Games , scheduled for June 23rd to July 8th, 2023 in San Salvador, El Salvador and Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic.
