The Sheltez Tennis Club’s eighth edition of the Independence Junior tournament concluded on Saturday with another successful event this year.
Tennis coach, Shelly Daly, said the road to success was not always a smooth one.

“Despite some challenges, sponsors pulling out at the last minute among other things, the event still had all the categories and full attendance,” Coach Daly disclosed.
There were a total of five categories and players as young as five years old competed.
“We were extremely pleased to see the level of play and the passion shown by all the players, especially in the U-10s. A total of 60 players entered, 111 matches were played at three different facilities,” the coach informed.

The U-12 category wrapped up the event, with the Girls winner being Kimora Erskine and with runner-up Niomi Erskine, third place went to Khole Sears and Samara Siland placed 4th.
In the Boys category, Jonathan Jordan was the winner, ahead of runner-up Alexander Parkinson, third place went to Mukang Yi and fourth Matthew Kristyanto.
“We would like to say a special thank you to all our parents, coaches, and co-ordinators as well as the Le Ressouvenir Tennis Club, Rebel Tennis Club and GBTI Tennis Club for making their facilities available.

To our generous sponsors, thank you for your contributions, it certainly made this event possible” Coach Daly added.
