A TWO-DAY training exercise for officers and other ranks of the joint services concluded on Thursday, at Bartica, in keeping with preparations for the upcoming Local Government Elections.
The Guyana Police Force, in a press release issued on Friday, said that the purpose of the training exercise was to further educate members of the joint services so they can be better equipped to handle any unlawful situations which can arise during the upcoming elections period.
The LGE will be held on June 12. A total of 46 parties, voluntary groups and individuals have been approved by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) to contest.
According to the press release, the training was divided into two categories: presentations and discussions were dealt with on day one, while the focus on day two was field exercise and practicals which were conducted at First Avenue, Bartica.
Among those present at the training were Captain Kaya Dover of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF); Regional Commander of Region #7, Senior Superintendant Dion Moore; Superintendent Shepherd of the Guyana Prison Service (GPS); Assistant Superintendent Johnson of the Guyana Fire Service (GFS), and other senior and junior ranks within the joint services.
