THE Guyana Oil and Gas Energy Chamber (GOGEC) on Saturday inked a new partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), an Indian private sector body, with the aim of promoting cooperation in the energy sector.

The visiting Indian delegation, which was led by India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishanker, was preceded by two recent visits to India by the Government of Guyana and a Guyanese Private Sector delegation led by President Dr. Irfaan Ali in January 2023, followed by Vice-President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo in February 2023.

“The thrust of the MoU between the GOGEC and CII is underpinned by mutual interest by both parties to promote mutual cooperation in trade and business relations between Guyana and India, particularly, in the oil, gas and energy sectors, and wish to expand the basis for friendly and cooperative educational, health and business,” a press release from the GOGEC noted.

It added, “GOGEC is pleased to have entered into this arrangement with CII which it believes will aid in valuable outcomes for its membership and by extension the two countries involved.”
