NEARLY 100 residents of Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast received free specialist healthcare last weekend when the 18th Chinese Medical Brigade conducted an outreach exercise.
The medical brigade included medical officials from general internal medicine departments, general surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), paediatrics, radiology, and anesthesiology.
The Chinese doctors gave each participating resident a complete physical examination and conducted various tests.
The medical brigade provided medication and treatment to the patients and free health leaflets on diabetes, hypertension and diabetic retinopathy prevention to all the participants.
The Chinese medical team treated nearly 100 patients from 11:30 hours to 13:30 hours and were warmly welcomed and praised by locals.
The captain of the 18th Chinese Medical Brigade, Dr. Chu Xuehui, said, “2023 is an important year, which marks the 30th anniversary of the Chinese Medical Brigade’s service to the Guyanese. The 18th Medical Brigade has carried out outreaches in Regions Two, Four, Five, Six, Nine and 10. In the coming months, the 18th Medical Brigade will provide more free health services in remote areas on weekends and holidays.”
