A FIFTY-nine-year-old man lost his life after reportedly falling overboard at a pump station behind the Rose Hall Estate, East Canje, Berbice, Region Six.

Dead is Aangraj Kumardeo Indrapal, called “Charles” of Lot 940 New Area, Canefield Settlement, East Canje.

Daughter of the deceased, Roshnie Indrapaul, 28, said her father left home on Thursday around 16:00 hours for work. She said he was not due to work the shift but was asked to fill in for another worker.

Roshnie related that early Friday morning, her family received a call, indicating that her father could not be found. They went to his work place to seek more information and found his belongings, including his bag and boots but he was nowhere in sight.

A search party was formed by workers attached to the estate and around 09:00 hours on Friday, his body was found submerged near the pump station. The elderly man, who worked as the service person/watchman, was on duty with the pump attendant at the Number Three Pump Station.

Based on information received, the pump attendant recalled that around 03:00 hours, Aangraj took a break to relieve himself at the pump station. A post-mortem examination is expected to be done early next week.

Aangraj, a father of two, was described as a caring and hardworking individual who had a passion for his job.
